The sheet were printed 20 years after the invention of the Guttenberg printing press and 20 years before Christopher Columbus discovered America.
Of great importance in terms of media history.
Illumination in fantastic quality with a very large initial worked in real gold and multicolored tendrils. A beautiful example of late medieval illumination. Here the ancient technique of monastic book painting is combined with the ultra modern technique of book printing at that time.
The first book printed in Europe was printed in 1452 in the workshop of Johannes Gutenberg with the help of Peter Schöffer. Until the 1970s, scientists were divided as to whether Guttenberg or Schöffer invented the moveable type, and then they agreed on Guttenberg.
After the end of Guttenberg's career, due to financial inconsistencies, Peter Schöffer led book printing into modern times and perfected the technology of printing and publishing.
Peter Schöffer's son (Peter Schöffer the 2nd) was the printer who printed and published Martin Luther's writings and was thus significantly involved in the "Worms Supergau" and the subsequent Reformation movement.
