    Description

Schedel Weltchronik - Liber Chronicarum - Nuremberg Chronicle 1493
"Judaica - Ark of the Covenant"
    Leaf CCXVI, latin edition
    1. General information about Nuremberg Chronicle 1493:
The Schedel world chronicle (Liber Chronicarum, Nuremberg Chronicle) was first published on July 12, 1493 in a Latin edition, and six months later, on December 23, 1493, also in a German version.
Edited by the famous Nuremberg humanist and historian Hartmann Schedel. Printed by Anton Koberger in Nuremberg. With more than 1800 woodcuts, the Schedel Chronik is an important testimony to German book printing art of the late Middle Ages. The chronicle presented the history of the world in seven ages. From the first age, the creation of the world, to the seven age, the end of the world and the prospect of the Last Judgment.
The woodcuts are by Michael Wolgemut and Wilhelm Pleydenwurff, his stepson. Contributions by the young Albrecht Dürer, who worked as an apprentice in Michael Wolgemut's workshop until 1490, are very likely.
