The Diwali Festival is a very ancient occasion mentioned in Sanskrit texts. Diwali is associated with the Goddess of Wealth, Lakshmi, whose four arms are ever ready to bestow bounty on deserving people. During the Festival, people dress in their finest clothes and illuminate the interior and exterior of their homes with lamps and candles. Red and gold are traditional holiday colors put to good effect in this design. Known as "Minters of the South Pacific," the New Zealand Mint is privately owned and is the only mint in the country producing collectible coins and bullion rounds for several nations, including Fiji, the Cook Islands, Niue and Tuvalu.
